In a press conference on Wednesday, President Trump responded to the believed chemical weapon attack that took place in Northern Syria, calling the attack an “affront to humanity.” At least 70 people, children included, were killed in the attack with hundreds more injured.

When asked if any red lines had been crossed as a result of the attack, the President responded, “It crossed a lot of lines for me.”

President Trump also discussed the state of Syria and its use of chemical weapons with regard to the past administration:

“I think the Obama administration had a responsibility to solve the crisis a long time ago. And when he didn’t cross that line in making the threat, I think that set us back a long ways not only in Syria, but in many other parts of the world because it was a blank threat. I think it was something that was not one of our better days as a country.”

If words were any indication, the President appeared to be greatly effected by the aftermath of the chemical attack. Do his remarks indicate a shift in foreign policy?
