Breaking: Donald Trump Has Fired FBI Director James Comey

Donald Trump has terminated FBI Director James Comey after recommendations from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Comey recently received scrutiny for inaccurately reporting on Hillary Clinton’s emails found on Huma Abedin’s computer. Comey sent the Presidential campaign into turmoil after announcing in front of Congress that the FBI had found  “hundreds and thousands” of emails on Anthony Weiner’s computer. Weiner, the husband of Hillary Clinton’s assistant Huma Abedin, made news after he had been involved in a scandal allegedly involving inappropriate behavior with a minor on social media. Recent reports from ProPublica show that Comey’s comments were inaccurate. West Wing Reports tweeted out a picture of the letter Director Comey received relieving him from duty. Report shows New Orleans homicide rate is worse than Chicago

Report shows New Orleans homicide rate is worse than Chicago

In the midst very contentious protests by people on both sides of the fate of Civil War monuments in New Orleans, reports show another more ominous problem facing the city. WWL is reporting that Jeff Asher, a New Orleans crime analyst, is seeing a very troubling trend in the crime rates and the perception of crime in New Orleans which does not reflect the reality. “Over the last 365 days, we’re looking at 205 murders, which if were a full year it would be the worst single calendar year post-Katrina other than 2007 when we had 207 murders,” Asher said. Asher compared New Orleans to similar cities struggling with violent crime around the country. “About 1 in 3 shootings in both New Orleans and Baltimore are fatal, whereas, in Chicago, it’s closer to 1 in 5,” Asher explained. “Without some sort of slowdown in shootings, there’s no expectation that the number of murders is going to change.” Asher has also written on his website that the perception of crime is not in line with the reality of crime statistics in New Orleans. Since 2009 the New Orleans Police Department has fared well in satisfaction surveys trending from nearly a 30% satisfactory rating to over a 60% satisfactory rating. During this same time, violent UCR Part I crimes have risen from nearly 2500 crimes to over 4000 crimes per year. Since Mayor Mitch Landrieu has waged a war on Civil War monuments, he has received a huge response from citizens in New Orleans that have seen more and more city resources used to tame the conflict at monument sites. Lawsuit Accuses CNN of Rampant Racism

Lawsuit Accuses CNN of Rampant Racism

Employees of CNN have signed on to a class-action lawsuit accusing the news giant of rampant racism and disparities based on race. The complaint charges that African-American workers receive lower performance ratings in evaluations, that there exist wage disparities between employees in comparable positions because of race, and that the promotion of minority employees is blocked by a “glass ceiling.”  The lawsuit also alleges a hostile work environment rife with racial slurs and insults.   The New York Post reports: Minority employees had to endure bigoted remarks such as “It’s hard to manage black people” and “Who would be worth more: black slaves from times past, or new slaves?,” according to a complaint by former workers Celeslie Henley and Ernest Colbert Jr. filed in Atlanta federal court.   Colbert Jr. also claims he was paid thousands less than white colleagues as a manager at the affiliated Turner Broadcasting System.   Henley, a former CNN executive assistant, says she was fired in 2014 for complaining that black employees were being paid less than white counterparts. Since the filing of this action on March 23rd, lawyers claim that they have been contacted by more than 175 current and former CNN employees wishing to join the suit.  All have similar complaints of targeted racial discrimination and biased practices perpetrated by the Network. News outlets quick to point out the handful of lawsuits against right-leaning Fox News or the dismissal of right-wing pundits because of allegations of sexual harassment have been largely silent about the CNN lawsuit.  Considering CNN has a history of on-air talent calling President Trump and his supporter’s “racist;” the silence is deafening, no?  ...
Possible cure for baldness accidentally identified by cancer researchers

Possible cure for baldness accidentally identified by cancer researchers

Published May 09, 2017 Fox News Cancer researchers in Texas have stumbled upon a finding that may lead to a cure for conditions that till now have been considered unfortunate yet unavoidable products of aging — balding and gray hair. WHAT’S ‘INVISIBLE BALDNESS’? WARNING SIGNS YOU MAY BE AT RISK While studying how tumors form, scientists at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center identified the cell that triggers hair growth and learned why hair turns gray. In their research, which was published online this month in Genes & Development, the authors observed that the protein KROX20 turns on in skin cells that develop into the hair shaft, according to a news release. These hair precursor cells then generate the stem cell factor (SCF) protein, which researchers demonstrated is necessary for giving hair its color. WHY YOU’RE GOING BALD — AND HOW TO GET YOUR HAIR BACK In mice, researchers found that when they deleted the SCF gene in hair precursor cells, the rodents’ hair turned white. Similarly, when they deleted KROX20-producing cells, the mice became bald, according to the release. Next, the team plans to study whether the function of KROX20 in cells and the SCF gene change with age and somehow trigger hair thinning and graying, as well as male-pattern baldness.
