Pokemon Go celebrates its anniversary with a new event and a huge update

By Jacob Siegal BGR Niantic on Thursday confirmed the rumors of a Solstice Event to begin on Tuesday, June 13th. As expected, Fire-type and Ice-type Pokemon will spawn more often during the event, while trainers will be able to XP bonuses for in-game actions and Lucky Eggs will be discounted in the shop. But that’s not all that Niantic has planned for its one-year anniversary. Not even close. Shortly after the Solstice Event begins, Niantic plans to release “a new update focused on collaborative group gameplay features that will get you playing Pokmon GO in fun new ways.” In order to prepare for the update, the developer will disable Gyms in-game for a short period of time. Niantic didn’t share any more details about the update, but this certainly sounds like the long-awaited Gym overhaul that has been rumored for the past several months. In interviews, Niantic executives have repeatedly discussed three major updates coming to Pokemon Go this summer: cooperative gameplay experiences, Legendary Pokemon and something relating to the teams. While we’re anxiously awaiting more news about the update, Niantic is hosting its first real-world Pokemon Go event in Chicago on July 22nd. Pokemon GO Fest will take place at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, where trainers will be able to meet up and participate in a variety of activities. Tickets will be available from PokemonGoLive.com/Fest starting on July 19th at 10:00AM PT. Niantic also plans to hold more events in Europe from June through September, making Pokemon Go Fest international....

Katy Perry: Taylor Swift is trying to ‘assassinate my character’

By Sasha Savitsky Published June 09, 2017 Fox News Katy Perry won’t let go of her feud with Taylor Swift. The 32-year-old addressed long-time rumors of a feud between the two pop divas for the first time to James Corden May 22 during an episode of “Carpool Karaoke.” Perry continued to rant against Swift in a new interview saying she had more to spill about their beef. “I mean, I’m not Buddha — things irritate me,” Perry told NME. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girl. That’s so messed up!” She also explained why she decided to finally confirm rumors of their feud to Corden. “Well, James Corden makes me and the whole world feel very safe,” Perry said. “No one has asked me about my side of the story, and there are three sides of every story: one, two, and the truth.” Swift has yet to comment on the feud and Perry’s comments. Her song “Bad Blood” was reportedly about the rift between her and Perry. Perry explained to Corden the feud began over a backup dancer who left Swift’s tour to join Perry’s. UK election: Theresa May to ask queen permission to form government despite losing majority

Published June 09, 2017 Fox News British Prime Minister Theresa May will ask the queen Friday to form a government despite her Conservative Party losing majority in Parliament. May’s gamble to call an early election appeared to have backfired and now she will have to seek the support of another party or group of parties to command a majority in the House of Commons. May has no intention of resigning as prime minister, despite calls from Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to do so, according to Sky News. The Conservatives held 330 seats in Parliament heading into Thursday’s general election. But by early Friday, the party only garnered 318 seats. The party would have needed 326 seats to hold a majority. The Labour Party gained 29 seats in the general election, totaling 261. The Conservatives remain in position to form a coalition government with the help of several Unionist Members of Parliament for North Ireland. However, if coalition negotiations fail, the outcome raises the possibility of the two major parties attempting to form minority governments – an outcome that could lead to a second general-election in the months ahead. “This country needs a period of stability,” May told supporters after she was re-elected to her own seat in the House of Commons on Thursday. “If the Conservative Party has won the most seats, it will be incumbent on us to deliver this period of stability.” Earlier Thursday, Corbyn had called on May to step down, saying that her attempt to seek a big mandate for her government to negotiate the U.K.’s departure from the European Union had ended in “lost...

Reality Winner: Accused leaker wanted to ‘burn the White House down’

Published June 09, 2017 Fox News The woman accused of leaking classified information once wrote she wanted “to burn the White House Down…find somewhere in Kurdistan to live,” prompting prosecutors on Thursday to argue she would flee the country if she was released on bond. Reality Winner appeared before a judge in Augusta, Ga., on Thursday who ordered her to remain jailed until her trial. Prosecutors argued that the 25-year-old might try to flee the U.S. if she was released on bond. They added that Winner wrote in her notebook alleged plans to set the White House on fire, travel to Afghanistan and pledge her allegiance to the Taliban, WSB-TV reported. Winner also called her mother while in jail and coached her on what tell the media, urging her to say that her daughter was “scared.” “Mom, those documents. I screwed up,” Winner also reportedly confessed to her mom in the recorded jailhouse phone call. Winner also allegedly told her sister she was “pretty, white and cute” and that Winner believed her bond hearing would play out in her favor, according to the news station. WHO IS REALITY WINNER? ACCUSED LEAKER WANTED TO ‘RESIST’ TRUMP The former government contractor pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges that she illegally retained and transmitted national defense information. Winner, the former Air Force linguist who speaks Arabic and Farsi, is accused of copying and mailing a classified report containing top-secret material to an online news organization, according to prosecutors. COMEY UNLEASHED: EX-FBI BOSS ACCUSES TEAM TRUMP OF ‘LIES,’ SUGGESTS LYNCH COVERED FOR CLINTON

COMEY UNLEASHED: EX-FBI BOSS ACCUSES TEAM TRUMP OF ‘LIES,’ SUGGESTS LYNCH COVERED FOR CLINTON

by Fox News By Barnini Chakraborty COMEY TESTIMONY: EX-FBI BOSS SAYS TRUMP TEAM LIED, BUT STOPS SHORT OF OBSTRUCTION CHARGE Former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before a Senate panel on Thursday could have President Trump’s legal team breathing a sigh of relief since he stopped short of alleging obstruction of justice – but his otherwise scathing comments guarantee the political controversy and Russia-related probes are far from over. “This is nowhere near the end of our investigation,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., said moments after the hearing’s conclusion. Comey, in his high-profile appearance before the committee, accused the administration of defaming him and said comments made about his competency “were lies, plain and simple.” RELATED: UK-ELECTIONS-MAY-WIN-NO-LONGER-A-SURE-BET-AFTER-TERROR-ATTACKS Comey also told lawmakers he decided to document meetings he had with Trump because he was “honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature” of their discussions. “I knew there might come a day when I might need a record of what happened not only to defend myself but to protect the FBI,” he added. RELATED: KABUKI-THEATRE-JAMES-COMEY-EDITION White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pushed back on Comey’s comments, telling reporters at a press briefing, “I can definitively say the president is not a liar.” Comey went further, saying he believes he was fired because of the Russia investigation — and that in a now-famous February meeting, Trump directed him to ease off an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn. At the same time, Comey told lawmakers that Trump did not ask him to end the Russia investigation as a whole — a key piece of testimony that...
VIRGINIA IMAM PLACED ON LEAVE AFTER ENDORSING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION

VIRGINIA IMAM PLACED ON LEAVE AFTER ENDORSING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION

by Fox News By Jason Kopp   A Virginia imam has been placed on leave after advocating for the controversial practice of female genital mutilation. Imam Shaker Elsayed of the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia, made the controversial comments on a video, posted to the center’s YouTube page, that has since been removed. It was first picked up by Middle East Research Media Institute (MEMRI), a non-profit that monitors and translates Iranian and Arab television channels, as well as sermons in the West. RELATED: RESTORING-CREDIBILITY-TRUMPS-SLATE-OF-11-JUDICIAL-NOMINEES-COULD-SHAKE-UP-COURTS “We thought it important to publish this sermon on the topic of FGM [female genital mutilation] because it has been in the news recently,” MEMRI Executive Director Steven Salinsky told Fox News. MOSQUE CONDEMNS IMAM’S COMMENTS ON GENITAL MUTILATION “(Circumcision is) a sunna [traditional Islamic practice] for the boys, and the honorable thing to do – if needed – for the girls. This is something that a Muslim gynecologist can tell you if you need to or not,” Imam Elsayed said in the video. He went on to describe a woman who performed the practice, saying “she is expected to cut only the tip of the sexual sensitive part in the girl, so that she is not hyper-sexually active. This is the purpose.” He then seemed to suggest the practice is so controversial because people don’t understand it. “Of course, if that lady or surgeon cut more than the tip, it causes serious harm in the sexual life of the child when she grows up, and this is why the West thinks of (it) as sexual mutilation,” he said. After talking about unqualified people performing the...
